On December 8, 2023, Energy Worker’s Day was celebrated at Kremenchuk Mykhailo Ostrohradskyi National University (KNU). Doors Open Day for Electric Power Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Electromechanics (specialty 141) brought together students, graduates, and industry specialists who had a unique opportunity to deepen their knowledge and exchange experience.

The event organized by KNU in collaboration with Research and Production Enterprise ENERGO-PLUS LLC became a platform for discussion of important aspects of Ukrainian energy and demonstration of the latest developments and achievements in the sphere. During a roundtable dedicated to the topic of Training of Competitive Specialists for the Electric Power Industry: Theory and Practice, current issues were discussed. KNU representatives highlighted the advantages of studying at the university emphasizing its role in preparation of highly qualified specialists.

Andrii Kalinov, Technical Director of Research and Production Enterprise ENERGO-PLUS LLC, brought to the fore the aspects of interaction between business and educational institutions as a key path for industry development:

‘On the one hand, representatives of businesses and enterprises should support the strengthening of the practical component of the training of students from vocational schools, technical colleges, and universities by providing practice bases, enhancing material and technical resources of educational institutions, and involving their own specialists in the educational process. Additionally, it is vital to engage university representatives in research on relevant production issues, joint product development, project solutions, commissioning works, gathering joint working groups and creating startups for the development and implementation of high-tech and knowledge-intensive products. On the other hand, higher education institutions must improve the theoretical and practical aspects of training, revive postgraduate programs as the major way to prepare highly qualified personnel, and refocus research on the relevant issues of the electrical engineering sector in Ukraine and globally. In general, the overall paradigm of conducting and presenting research findings must be altered.’

A representative of National Power Company UKRENERGO pointed out the issues of enhancing the dynamic stability of Ukrainian energy systems and methods to overcome the implications of Russian strikes on energy facilities.

As part of the event, a scientific and technical exhibition took place bringing together representatives of the production sector and industrial equipment distributors, including Research and Production Enterprise ENERGO-PLUS LLC, SE SV ALTERA-KREMENCHUK LLC, Shliakh Krasy LLC, and Avtomatyzatsia Maibutnego  LLC.

Energy Worker’s Day at Kremenchuk National University was not only a celebration for students, graduates, and industry specialists but also a crucial step forward in the development of the energy sector of Ukraine. Brainstorming ideas  and sharing experience will contribute to the quality training of future leaders in the energy sphere.
