Retrofit of 10 kV Switchgear
Description
Retrofit is a program of modernization of various types of switchgear by replacing old oil and low-oil circuit breakers that have reached the end of their operational life with advanced vacuum circuit breakers. To date, our specialists have developed over 30 projects on replacement of withdrawable elements for cells of Packaged Switchgear Unit and adaptation kits for KSO and KRN chambers. Moreover, any custom project can be developed based on specific requirements.
Design:
Within the scope of the production of the equipment necessary for Retrofit implementation, a designer visits the substation to implement an external survey and take measurements of the modernization facility.
We offer two options for modernization under Retrofit:
- Replacement of the entire withdrawable element (WE) with a new switch. In this case, the new withdrawal element fully matches the dimensions and connection sizes of the one being replaced. The equipment manufactured under the program contains a system of mechanical and electromechanical interlocks. These include a block to the withdrawable element (WE) to prevent moving when the switch is on, a block to the control function of the switch in the intermediate position of the WE, and a block to the grounding when the WE is in the operational and intermediate positions.
This option is significantly cost- and labour-saving. Additionally, a benefit of this retrofit option is the possibility of using the old WE with the oil switch as a backup.
- Replacement of the old switch that has reached the end of its service life on the withdrawable element of the Packaged Switchgear Unit or in the KSO with a new one using an adaptation kit (AK) that updates or replaces the locking system, as well as adapting the connector for the secondary circuits of the switch. This option is the most economical, but more time-consuming and labor-intensive.
