Energy Sector: Hydropower Plants, CHP Plants, TPPs, Critical Infrastructure

In 2024, NVP ENERGO-PLUS LLC faced new challenges related to the aggressor country’s attacks on energy infrastructure. However, thanks to professionalism, coordinated teamwork, and resilience, the team was able to solve dozens of complex tasks.

Throughout 2024, NVP ENERGO-PLUS LLC specialists:

  • Carried out design work at three thermal power plants to implement thyristor excitation systems for generators with a total capacity of 480 MW.
  • Twenty excitation systems of Polish-Ukrainian production were delivered for generators with a total capacity of 1650 MW.
  • The design of a chemical water treatment system for one of the thermal power plants was completed. The total system capacity is:
    – demineralized water (for power boilers): 70 m³/h in normal mode and 140 m³/h in peak mode;
    – first-stage permeate (for district heating network makeup): 360 m³/h in normal mode and 480 m³/h in peak mode.
  • Two excitation systems were delivered for one of the CHP plants — one of them, for a 120 MW generator, was implemented and commissioned at the end of the year.
  • Control systems of thermal power plants were designed and relocated to protective structures at two CHP plants.
  • A conversion project was launched to adapt four boilers at one CHP plant to use gas-grade coal, with a total installed capacity of 409 Gcal/h.
  • Preventive maintenance was carried out on two previously installed excitation systems for generators with a total capacity of 120 MW at one of the thermal power plants.
  • A reconstruction of outdated electric drive systems for skip hoisting machines was carried out. The legacy generator–DC motor systems were upgraded with complete thyristor power converters for armature circuits of the drive motors and excitation windings. The implementation of such energy service projects enables significant electricity savings – up to 50% of total consumption.
  • Two gas turbine power plant installation projects were implemented, with a combined capacity of over 50 MW.
  • Repair and maintenance of electrical equipment at pumping stations of two water utilities were completed.
  • Alternative energy sources were introduced by installing a rooftop solar power plant with a capacity of 120 kW at a critical infrastructure facility.
  • Supply, installation, and commissioning of electric drives for technological equipment at the wastewater treatment facilities of one of the water utilities were successfully completed.
  • Work was carried out in two regions of Ukraine to modernize power equipment and install new control systems.
  • Restoration and modernization of a 120 MW turbo generator unit damaged during an attack were completed at one of the thermal power plants.
  • Repair work on a 60 MW turbo generator was completed at another thermal power plant.
  • A new test bench with a synchronous generator and turbine operation simulation was created at the company’s own production facilities for testing excitation systems.
  • A new test bench was developed for experimental research into diagnostics of asynchronous motors used in pump drive systems.
  • A laboratory of electrical installations and a computerized lab bench for studying variable frequency drive systems were established for one of the vocational schools.
  • Routine maintenance of the boiler and network electric pumps of the district heating plant at one of the thermal power stations was completed.
  • Work began on replacing two excitation systems for generators with a total capacity of 44 MW at one of the power plants.
  • Design work was carried out for the implementation of four cogeneration units at boiler houses.

Connected Capacities

Most of the projects undertaken by NVP ENERGO-PLUS LLC in 2024 were aimed at the restoration and reconstruction of critical energy infrastructure and the overhaul of equipment.

Among the most significant projects was the restoration and modernization of a 120 MW turbine unit at one of the thermal power plants that had been damaged as a result of attacks.

In 2024, the specialists of NVP ENERGO-PLUS LLC achieved a milestone of the first 50 MW of new capacities, implemented within the framework of the «Gigawatt» program initiated by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Work is ongoing.

International Cooperation: «Emerson», «TWERD» and others

NVP ENERGO-PLUS LLC actively collaborates with international partners, implementing advanced technologies for the restoration and modernization of Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.

Through partnerships with companies such as Emerson, Hitachi, Endress+Hauser, and Schneider Electric Ukraine, ENERGO-PLUS delivers innovative solutions in the fields of automation and energy.

The partnership with Emerson has enabled the deployment of modern automation and control systems, enhancing the efficiency and reliability of energy facilities in Ukraine.

Collaboration with Endress+Hauser (a Swiss manufacturer of measurement equipment) and Schneider Electric Ukraine (a global expert in energy management) contributes to the introduction of cutting-edge technologies in the industry.

Thanks to these international partnerships, ENERGO-PLUS not only introduces innovations but also integrates the Ukrainian energy sector into the global community, ensuring sustainable development and industry competitiveness.

The company’s specialists continuously update their expertise by participating in international conferences and energy forums. Notably, employees took part in Emerson’s partner conference in Düsseldorf. Currently, the company is also participating in international tenders for the supply of thyristor excitation systems.

Team Development

Given the increasing volume of work and the implementation of complex national projects, NVP ENERGO-PLUS LLC placed special emphasis in 2024 on training specialists in turbine equipment repair, design work, and automation. In particular, the company expanded its construction division.

A dedicated team of «turbine specialists» was also established – these are professionals responsible for major turbine overhauls and the modernization of thermal mechanical equipment.
